Here's a piece from my article, "The Moon Under Her Feet" at www.jdhigdon.com/moonunder.html.

"In prophecy symbolism, angels (messengers, agents) often represent leaders: government, church, etc. The focus here is on two important phrases: "in the Euphrates" and "to slay a third part of men." The word "in" should be translated "by,", as beside or near the Euphrates. The Euphrates flows through Turkey, Syria and Iraq. What other great nation is located near the Euphrates? Could it be reference to powerful Middle-Eastern nations, supported by their even more powerful allies? And "to slay a third part of men (mankind)." With what? Could "the water" (used figuratively of peoples) of the Euphrates that was "dried up" in Rev. 16:12 refer to an alliance with (or defeat of) the peoples (nations) that are now a buffer zone, hindering the greater giants farther east?"

By the way, only one nation has ever figuratively had the moon under her feet (The Israel in Ezek. 38; Deut. 32:15-36; and Rev. 18) "One small step for a man; one giant leap for mankind." And a grim forecast soon to come, spelled "Armageddon" and means "Nation of Rendezvous" or the United States. How prophetic those words of Neil Armstrong (July 20, 1969).
